Donner Lake fishing for California fishing vacation mountain cabins
SUMMER RECREATION
Donner lake is about 3 miles long by 1/2 mile wide. Donner Lake fishing (with license) is open all year long. Mackinaw and Brown Trout are caught, with the year 2000 having a record of 34 pounds.
Sailboarding, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, water skiing and jet skiing usually starts in June with wet suits. Without wet suit, in July, August & September. It is great for sailing & sailboarding when the wind comes up in the afternoon. When weather and the water warms up, swimming is good. Donner Lake is about 6 degrees warmer than Lake Tahoe. There are Donner Lake boat rentals of water craft in Donner State Park (at the east end) and at Donner Lake Village Resort (at the west end) of the lake. There is a public launch ramp down the road from the cabin to the west. Boat trailers can be parked there. Six public docks can be accessed close to the house. Mooring for forty eight hours only. The closest dock is about 75 feet. Because of the southern sun exposure, the deck of the home is wonderful to picnic or sun bathe on. Or bring a lawn chair down to one of the six public dock across the road. There are public beachs at the west and east ends of the lake and additional beaches in Donner Memorial State Park.
The address of the home is 13130 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, Ca. 96161
